The Box

My views on god/divine are summed up in the comparison of of the box. Its a box that people since the beginning of time have tried to speculate what is inside. Some think it was the messiah, Jesus. Others Allah. The multitude of ideas for what is inside this box is endless. There could actually be nothing in this box. But my point is, since we will never see inside to verify any of these claims, who am I to say one theory is right, and another wrong. They both have an equal chance of being true... or being false. I cannot logically state that God the Father sent his son to die for my sins, and the only way to heaven is through Christ. I can assume that position, but I can not prove it. If I cant prove something, how can I condemn another for not believing? If I cant prove to you that I can run 100 miles without stopping, why in the world would you believe me?
I think when it comes down to it, the only reason at all, that I can find to chose a religion is to improve my life through the community and friendship that comes along with it. My religious practices involve bettering myself, my community, and my world. I have no judgement of others beliefs because they are not mine.
If religion is what people need to keep going, more power to you. But for the love of life, and all that is good, stop the hatred, discrimination, condemnation, war, and death in the name of a religion that is just an unproven speculation of the inside of a box that we will never see.
